Suggestions to Encourage and Improve Attendance

Dear Coaches,

Thank you again for all that you do for your teams and for being such a vital part of our PASO soccer community. Your dedication and leadership create a space where kids can grow, compete, and have fun. We truly appreciate the heart you bring to every practice and game.

As part of our ongoing effort to support you and improve team experiences across the league, we’re introducing a new Attendance Policy this season. This change is directly shaped by feedback from coaches, parents, and players in our recent survey.

What We Heard:

  • 53 mentions (16.4%) from parents and players cited inconsistent participation and no-shows as issues that affect team morale and play.
  • 20 coaches (21%) highlighted player attendance and commitment challenges — from chronic late arrivals to minimal communication from families. These issues often lead to limited subs and disrupted development plans.

What’s Changing:
The new policy provides a clear and consistent approach to attendance expectations. It includes:

Ideas That Work:
We’ve seen great results when teams celebrate consistency. A few ways to keep spirits high:

  • Give a quick shoutout to players who show up ready and on time
  • Send a positive group message after strong practice turnout
  • Encourage families by sharing how attendance helps everyone succeed
  • Recognize consistent attendance with game captain role

This must be in place for all players, all players treated equally. If there are reoccurring attempts for attendance issues, please keep notes of your attempts prior to reaching out to PASO league directors.

Thank you again for everything you do. We’re confident that this policy will help ease some of the challenges and allow you to focus more on what you do best: coaching and inspiring young athletes.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out with questions, concerns, or ideas. We’re in this together!
